2007 Banger Rods Specifications
Introduction
North East Oval Motorsports (Barford Raceway) Banger Rods are intended to be a training ground for new drivers although experienced drivers are very welcome to join. The Banger rods will run the first three laps of each race with NO CONTACT allowed. At the end of the three laps the UNION JACK will be shown and then LIGHT contact will be permitted with drivers allowed to spin other cars towards the centre green.
It is stressed that is a limited contact formula and drivers who engage in deliberate wrecking tactics will not be permitted to continue in the Banger Rods. If you want to race in a full contact formula then the other Banger formula (National Bangers) run by the North East Stock Car Promotions is for you.

Preparation
1. Remove all exterior mouldings, headlamps, door handles, and bumper over riders and exterior mirrors.
Drivers – One car Per Meeting
Each driver is only permitted one car per meeting and each car is only permitted one driver per meeting.
Body Work –
The front wings may be trimmed below the front bumper level but no folding. All doors must either be spot welded, bolted or chained. At least one bolt through pillars is recommended.
Door Plate
Driver’s door plate should overlap the driver’s door front and repair pillars by a minimum of 3”. To be made of maximum ½” thick steel plate (NO shuttering of tubes). Minimum 9” wide maximum 12” wide. It must be fitted to the car with a minimum of 4x3/4” bolts with large washers on the side or 6 x 12” bolts with large washers.
WHEELS AND TYRES
TYRES are restricted to maximum size of 195 width by 60 profile (No knobbly or studded tyres) may be used. In order to minimize race damage scrutineers will reject tyres considered to be unsuitable for conditions.
Paint work
Drivers may not paint their cars in team colors or similarly to other cars. Bright colors recommended and a good overall appearance is required. Cars may be neatly sigh written but no childish scrawls or silly remarks please. Name and numbers on both sides of the car. No unpainted cars.
Engines
Gearbox/Axle
Important Notice
When referring to all engine/car construction specification the principle will always be unless specific permission is made within these rules nothing may be altered or changed in any way to the standard parts, and therefore if it doesn’t say you can, you CANNOT DO IT.
Bonnets
May be removable but must be securely fixed and must have four bolts3/8” think. The maximum exposed height above the surface for all bolts to be 1”. No added metal to the bolts allowed.
Seatbelts
A full safety harness must be fitted and must be anchored on at least three separate anchored points.
Brakes
Must remain as manufactured and working on all four wheels
1. Any standard road wheel
2. All four wheels must be of the same diameter
3. No competition tyres. No Yokohama’s, no Avon’s
Battery
Must be securely fixed and fitted to the inside the car – on, under or behind the roll bar, not in the footwell. They can not be left under the bonnet. They must be covered with a rot proof material.
Radiators
Are free, but may not be removed from the original position. Although 1 bar box 40mil x 40 mil is allowed but must be welded or bolted from inside to inside of front chassis leg. Not outside to outside with no gusstes.
Fin Plate
Fin plates are compulsory and must be bolted to the roof of the car using two bolts and must have numbers of a minimum of 10” high, 2” brush strokes, black on white background.
Drivers Seat
A seat with a head restraint must be fitted. The seat must be securely mounted at shoulder height o the cross bar or to the roll over bar and bolted securely to the floor. No racing seats allowed.
Roller Bars
Must be one complete frame. No scaffolding poles/clamps. All frames must be welded, two uprights with cross bar welded. Uprights must have 4” plates welded to the base to stop pushing them through floor.
At least one, maximum two, cross bars must be used to reach to the doors or pillars and must have 4” plates welded to both ends to stop them punching through doors.
Track Signals
Red flag/green light = Stop racing
Yellow flags/ yellow lights = Slow down to no more than 15 mph so that any object on track can be easily avoided. You must not over take the car I front. Be prepared to stop. Do not break the line in any way until green or red flag/lights are shown.
Green flag/Green lights =All clear to race
Union Jack =Light contact between cars is now permitted.
Black flag =Leave track disqualified
Black/White Chequered flag =Race winner

2007 2ltr Hot Rods Specifications
ELIGIBLE CARS
Any Saloon or hatch back type car of steel monologue construction, of which the overall length and width of the unmodified car does not exceed 13ft 7in by 5ft 6in.Cars may be front or rear engine and front or rear wheel drive and may be converted between front wheel drive and rear wheel drive. Four wheel drive is NOT permitted.
RACING DISCIPLINES
Any driver believed to have been drinking alcohol prior to racing will be excluded. Smoking in cars on the track is prohibited.Mechanics are not permitted on the track without permission from an official. The pit area is subject to a 5 mph speed limit at all times. Drivers are responsible for mechanics behaviour at all times.
ENGINES
Any production engine which in standard form does not exceed 2000 cc may be used in any eligible body shell. (Boring to +60 thou. Allowed for wear.) modifications are unrestricted EXCEPT : no steel cranks (except fitted as standard), con rods, fly wheels, dry sumps and forged pistons. Maximum two valves per cylinder. Carburetion is limited to two 48 DCOE Webbers or equivalent. Fuel injection is allowed but only when used on unmodified engine and original car. NO Turbo’s, super charging or water injection. An effective oil catch tank must be fitted. NO motor cycle engines permitted.
TWIN CAMS
Twin cam engines may be used but must remain in standard form with the exception of twin 48 DCOE Webbers or equivalent . NO 16 valve engines. General restrictions also apply.
WINDSCREENS
All glass must be removed. But a perspex screen is permitted. If a wind screen is used an effective wash/wipe system must be fitted. If no windscreen is used a wire mesh screen is recommended and a vertical metal bar should be fitted one third of the way along the windscreen aperture on the drivers side.
BUMPERS/TOWING EYES
All cars must be fitted with front and rear PLASTIC bumpers with the exception of a MKII Escort, Toyota Starlet and Mini which will be left to the scrutineers discretion or can be fitted with a Peugeot 205 bumper or similar, METAL BUMPERS ARE NOT PERMITTED. Towing / lifting facilities are advised to be fitted to aid recovery and minimise vehicle damage, however fixed metal protrusions are NOT allowed, straps or fee shackles are suggested.
ELECTRICAL
Batteries must be bolted or clamped in position and completely covered with an acid proof material to prevent acid spillage in the event of a roll over. All wiring must be fully insulated. Electrical starters must be fitted and in working order. A minimum of two brake lights must be fitted in the rear window aperture. Cars with out working brake lights will not be permitted to race. Electronic ignition is permitted. A clearly marker external ignition cut off must be fitted and injection engines must be fitted with a fuel cut off, either in the front of the windscreen aperture or the rear side corner.
SEATS
Seats must be securely fixed and incorporate a head rest. No reclining or folding seats are permitted. A full safety harness must be fitted with at least 5 fixing points.
FUEL SYSTEM
A fuel tank of a maximum capacity 4 gallon must be securely fitted and separated from the engine bay by a full bulk head (front or rear). If accessible from the drivers compartment the tank must have an adequate fire wall. Tanks must have a metal screw on cap and be vented in such away as to prevent spillage in event of a roll over. The vent pipe must enter the tank at the top and must be fitted with a one way valve or terminate below the tank. All fuel pipes must be metal or reinforced / braided plastic and a metal on off tap must be fitted within reach of the belted driver. Only normal road side fuel may be used. Additives are not permitted.
COOLING SYSTEM
Water cooling system may be modified provided all modifications are with in the original vehicle outline. Radiators may be relocated in the rear of the car provided there is adequate protection between the radiator and the driver. Any coolant pipes running through the cockpit located under the bonnet / scuttle panel must be adequately shielded from the driver.
SUSPENSION AND BRAKES
Suspension is restricted and must remain fitted to the original car mounting. There are NO COILOVERS permitted such as AVO’S & LEDA’S but adjustable shockers are aloud. Effective brakes must be fitted and work on all four wheels. Limited slip of lock differentials are allowed.
WHEELS & TYRES
Wheel camber is limited, all four wheels on the car must be perpendicular (vertical).
Racing slicks are allowed with a maximum with of ten inches. Standard roads tyres may be used, (No knobbly or studded tyres) may be used. In order to minimize race damage scrutineers will reject tyres considered to be unsuitable for conditions.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
Any exhaust system passing through the drivers cockpit must be fully covered with metal shield. Silencers are required at Barford Raceway. NO SILENCER NO RACE! Drivers visiting other tracks must ensure that the car meets the noise limit of 95 Dba.
ROLL CAGES
A full roll cage of a minimum 1.25 in dia. Tube or box section to a minimum 1.5 in x 1.5 in x 10 s.w.g. must be used and must be welded to the floor with a 6in square plate and 3mm thick.. Two horizontal bars must be fitted between the driver and the door at approximately knee height connected at both ends to the roll cage and preferably curved into the door. These bars may not protrude forward or backwards any further than the down bars of the roll cag. Rear roll cage braces may extend into the rear quarters of the car but cross braces in the rear may not be or greater section than 1in x 1in box max, 2.5 mm wall thickness.
BODY WORK
Bodies must retain the basic vehicle silhouette. The original floor pan, bulk heads and a roof section must be retained except to the extent that modifications are permitted by these rules. Front bulkheads may be modified to accommodate an alternative engine. Rear bulkheads may be removed or replaced provided that sufficient structural strength remains. Floor panels behind the rear edge of the doors may be removed or replaced. Aero foils and spoilers are permitted if securely fitted, sill extensions are aloud, wheel arch extensions must not protrude no further than the outside edge of the wheel rim, side skirts may be fitted with a maximum 2.5mm thick and must not protrude past the outer edge of the wheel arches but may not be double skinned or formed from box section or flat plate. No fibre glass or Kevlar panels permitted and the original floor must remain standard. Head lamp apertures must be blanked off with a maximum or 20 s.w.g metal. All body work must be kept tidy and must be nicely painted. Sign writing and numbering must be of a professional appearance. Scrutineers will reject tatty, damaged or dirty cars. Cars will be randomly weighted and cars must not be below the vehicle weight as shown on the MOT brake weight charts.
ARMOURING IS NOT PERMITTED.
HELMETS AND OVERALLS
Helmets must be warn at all times when the car is on track. Crash helmets tested to BS6658A, 6658AFR A.C.U approved, snell SA95 and SA00 are compulsory and must have standard labels intact . Drivers must also wear clean fire resistant overalls. The use of balaclavas and gloves is strongly recommended.
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
A fire extinguisher or a minimum 1kg BCF refillable, with gauge must be securely fitted with in reach of the belted driver.
NAMES AND NUMBERS
The drivers name must be clearly and professionally sign written on the car. Racing numbers must appear on both sides of the car, minimum 8in height professionally sign written on contrasting backgrounds. Roof mounted fins must also be fitted showing black numbers, minimum height 3in on a white back ground.
ARRIVAL AT MEETINGS
All drivers are required to be available for vehicle scrutineering at the track at least
ONE HOUR before the advertised start time. Late arrivals will not be allowed to compete in the first race. All drivers are required to sign in after scrutineering but before racing.
RACING FORMATS
Meetings will consist of a minimum or two heats and a final. A maximum of 24 cars will be permitted to start each race.
CONTACT
Hot Rod racing is STRICTLY A NON CONTACT SPORT, drivers considered to be guilty of deliberate or careless contact will be penalised and may at the discretion of the steward be excluded from any further participation in the meeting. This includes blocking and team racing. The decision of the steward will be final and not open to debate or appeal.
NOVICE DRIVERS
Drivers who have not had any other previous racing experiences MUST have a test as arrange with the promoter. Also drivers who have not previously competed in Hot Rod racing must for their first 3 meetings carry a black cross mounted on a yellow square of minimum size 12in x 12in in a conspicuous position on the rear of their car. Novice drivers will be required to start from the back of the grid until such time as they satisfy the steward of the meeting as to their driving competence.
GRADING
Drivers will be graded at the start of the season and regraded at monthly intervals during the season based upon points scored and meetings attended. Grades will be donated by the following roof colours:- Super Star– Red
English Champion— Gold Roof Star—Red
Great Northern Champion– Black & White Chequered “A” Grade– Blue
Points Champion– Silver “B” Grade– Yellow
“C” Grade– White
The roof area from the front to back must be painted in the appropriate colour in a band at least 24in wide, but preferably the whole roof. If this is not done drivers will be required to start from the back of the grid. Drivers joining from other promotions must confirm their grade colour before racing. An all season points championship will be run and points will be awarded for all races as follows: Heats & GN 12 Laps: 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1. Finals 18 Laps 20,18,16,14,12,10,8,6,4,2. Further laps will be run time permitting. The final winner has the option of starting the Grand National with a one lap handy cap for double points. Drivers must start each race as to top points down over.
TRACK SIGNALS
All track signals must be obeyed immediately.

VIOLATIONS
When
referring to the engine, gearbox, differential, mechanical or construction,
rules and regulations the principle
will always be:
unless permission is specifically granted to make modifications, or any
variation, nothing may be done to alter or change in any way the standard Parts.
Unless
these rules state you can do it, you CANNOT DO IT.
Cars,
Engines and Fuel will be checked on a random basis.
Violations
will result in an immediate suspension of all racing facilities and any refusal
will also result in an immediate suspension.
All
car and engine specifications will be taken from the Technical Service Data book
for cars as published by Glass's Guide Service Limited.

NB:
Drivers are reminded that scrutineer checks can be carried out at any
time, and most certainly on all official championships.
If parts are suspected of being illegal make sure you leave them with the
promotion if you do not agree. If
you refuse it will automatically make the parts illegal.
It
is the responsibility of the driver to prove to the promotion that the part is
legal by the way of written proof of where the part originated.
This must be done within seven days, otherwise the part(s) in question
will be deemed to be illegal and will result in immediate suspension from racing
and referral for disciplinary action.
1.
BODY
Only
Mini, Mini Clubman, Riley Elf or Wolsely Hornet Saloons are acceptable providing
all run with 850cc/1000cc running gear on the front and rear. A metal upright
min size ¾" square must be welded or bolted into the windscreen aperture,
one third of the way along the driver's side.
Passenger door may be cut down a max of 3" drivers door 1½".
A full firewall must be in place between the driver and fuel tank and
engine bay, with all holes blanked off. The
interior of the car must be completely gutted of all combustible materials,
glass and trimmings. All external
lights, fittings and bright metal trim must be removed.
The doors may be skinned, along with the rear pockets; the rear parcel
shelf may be removed. The doors must be welded shut.
A steel boot floor must be in place on all cars.
Though not necessarily original, this must tie the vehicle floor pan,
rear arches and rear panel together and be welded in position.
Further alloy firewalls behind the driver are permitted and drainage
holes in the area around the location of the fuel tanks are compulsory.
Aerofoils are not permitted. The
floor pan must be retained and made good, where the internal iron work is joined
to the external iron work the body or floor pan must be made good.
2.
WEIGHT
Each
car, as presented ready for racing, must not weigh less than 14cwt (712 kg).
Racing weight must be achieved without the use of ballast. All internal ironwork must be of equal proportions on both
sides of the car in construction and gauge.
The driver's floor pan may be reinforced with steel plate maximum
thickness 3mm.
3.
ENGINE,
GEARBOX & DIFFERENTIAL
The
regulations for the 1000cc engine are as follows :
A
nominal bore of 64.59mm plus 1.5mm oversize allowed.
A standard stroke of 76.2mm (original cc 998).
Pistons
must be standard 998 replacement type, with all rings in place.
Only
standard replacement rings are allowed (No competition or total seal rings
allowed).
The
block may be surface ground, but the piston must be level or down the bore.
The
block may be rebored or sleeved back to standard and rebored or line bored.
No
other alteration allowed.
The
head must be standard Mini 1000 casting and may be surface ground to a minimum
thickness measured between the top and bottom machined faces of 2,700 thou.
Valves
must be standard or replacement Mini 1000
Valves
of standard length and standard valve head size of 27.89 inlet, and 25.53
exhaust.
Valve
seat angles are free, but there must be no machining or fettling past the valve
seat on the valve or the head.
Standard
valve spring top and coletts must be retained.
Any
single valve spring that fits without the need for machining may be used.
The
combustion chambers and ports may not be modified in any way and must not have
any material added or removed.
Replacement
valve seats may be fitted, but must be level with the bottom of the combustion
chamber.
Only
the standard replacement gasket allowed.
Any
camshaft may be used that fits without additional modification to the engine or
components.
Cam
followers, push rods and rockers must be standard Mini 998.
NO
VERNIER PULLEYS ALLOWED.
You
may use off-set woodruff keys.
Standard
timing chain and tensioner must be used.
Only
the standard type distributor may be used.
The
advance may be altered and you may lock the base plate.
No
electronic ignition systems are allowed.
You
may not lighten, balance or stress relieve the pistons, con rods, crank shaft or
flywheel.
All
oil ways and galleries must remain unmodified.
Oil
pickup pipe may be repositioned.
No
oil coolers or remote oil filter allowed.
Compact
oil filters are allowed.
Only
the standard Mini 1000 1½" carburettor with the single outlet exhaust is
allowed, used with the restrictor plate provided by your ORCi Promoter.
No
modification to the carburettor allowed.
Jets
and needles are free.
Air
cleaners are free.
No
trumpets allowed.
The
radiator must be within the engine compartment and be of the standard type.
Solid
engine mountings allowed, and engine stabilisers may be fitted.
A 50mm hole must be machined in the engine end cover in a convenient
location for checking the flywheel.
Gearbox.
You may only use the standard 850 or 1000 Mini gearbox all gears must be in
place and all gears must be original equipment ratios. Diff ratios are free,
however the formula may be restricted to one ratio in the near future.
All diffs must be unlocked, no limited slip or power lock types.
The
engine must be fitted with a metal catch tank of 1 litre minimum capacity
connected to the engine breather system.
4.
ROLL
CAGE
A
full roll-cage must be constructed of minimum 38mm (10 gauge) square or round
tube. The cage to consist of screen
hoop and hoop behind driver with connecting bars in the roof.
All four uprights must have a steel plate on the base bolted to the floor
no less than 100mm square minimum, one eighth thick.
Two chicken bars must be fitted to the roll-cage on the driver's side and
one on the passenger side. A 3mm
plate must be welded to the outside of the chicken bars inside the car.
A horizontal bar must be fitted across the roll cage pillars at shoulder
and floor level behind the driver and at scuttle panel and floor level in front.
This bar must be a minimum size of 2" x 1" or 1½" x 1½"
or tube equivalent. A 3mm thick roof plate must cover half the roll cage area
above the driver and be supported on all sides.
All roll cages must terminate within the vehicle.
The
use of steel mesh is permitted in the front windscreen, but must end ½ way
across on the drivers side only.
5.
IRONWORK
Protection
bumpering and side rails constructed from 50mm x 30mm, 50mm x 25mm or 40mm x
40mm hollow steel rectangular box must be constructed in accordance with
illustration, to ensure even contact between cars.
The front bumper must consist of two horizontal bars, with a minimum of 4
and a maximum of 5 vertical uprights. The
curve at front and rear corners of bumpers must not extend more than 150mm from
the line of the side iron. Corner
gussets up to 150mm triangular of 6mm thick plate may be fitted.
Two through irons may be fitted underneath the car from front to rear
bumpers to hold sub frame in place 50mm x 30mm, 50mm x 25mm or 40mm x 40mm
hollow steel box as in other parts of ironwork or metric equivalent may be used.
Protective ironwork inside the car rear of the engine compartment is up
to individual and is free (See Regulation 2).
Any additional gussets must not exceed 80mm x 80mm.
The ironwork may be used as a location for the front and rear subframe
mounting brackets. Sub frames may
be strengthened by the use of steel plate or hollow section.
Sump guards may be fitted but must be securely welded to the ironwork.
6.
WHEELS
& TYRES
Any
standard manufacturers steel wheel 10" or 12" up to a maximum of
5" width may be used. Weller wheel etc. may be used with a maximum width of
5”, a maximum inset of 3¼“ and a maximum offset of 2¾“ this measurement
is taken from the back of the wheel rim to the back of the wheel stud flange
face.
Only 10" wheels are allowed on the back.
Wheel studs may be modified to suit.
Any tyre to a maximum width of 6.2 or 165 may be used.
Competition tyres cannot be used. No
wheel spacers allowed. No regrooved
or Town & Country tyres are allowed. All
identification marks must remain on tyres.
No tyre flaps allowed. The
Yokohama AO32R, Avon CR6ZZ and Dunlop Formula R are not permitted.
7.
SUSPENSION
- FRONT
Suspension
components must remain standard. You may lengthen the near side track control
arms by up to 20mm in length to give negative camber. You may also shorten or
lengthen the near side front tie rod. The modified components are not permitted
to be adjustable on the vehicle. All suspension parts must be mounted in the
original position and must not be attached to any additional ironwork.
All cars must have suspension movement up and down.
No lowering allowed. Push fit drive shafts may be lengthened upto 25mm to
prevent driveshafts popping out on impact, ride height will be measured on the
drivers side between the floor and the roof gutter midway along the car; it
must not be less than 116.5cm. The
steering rack may be lengthened, near-side only up to 20mm, or track rod ends
may be changed to accommodate a longer track control arm.
The
repositioning of the near side front top shock absorber mounting is not allowed.
8.
SUSPENSION
– REAR
The
use of negative camber is not permitted on rear suspension.
All suspension parts must be mounted in the original position, however
sub-frame mounting points may be attached to the ironwork.
9.
FUEL
SYSTEM
Only
tanks with a maximum capacity of 2 gallons are permitted, these must be fitted
inside the boot area where they are separated from the driver and securely
mounted. All tank filler caps must be of metal and screw fixing.
Petrol pipes must be of metal or metal covered and have a shut off tap
within easy reach of the driver. All
tanks must be fitted with a breather system which prevents spillage if a car is
inverted. All petrol pick up pipes must draw through a stand pipe from
the top of the fuel tank. Electric
fuel pumps can be used in place of the standard manual pump but they must be
situated in the boot behind the fire wall, 4 x 2” holes must be drilled at the
lowest point under the fuel tank to allow spilled fuel to drain.
The use of in-line fuel pressure regulators is allowed.
10.
BATTERIES
& ELECTRICAL
Batteries
must be securely clamped in place behind
the driver with a leak proof material to prevent spillage of acid.
An electrical cut/off switch must be fitted to the R/N/S corner of the
car. If a car is fitted with an
electrical fuel pump, a switch must also be within easy reach of the driver.
Self starter motors must be fitted and in working order at all times.
11.
BRAKES
Brakes
must be effective on all four wheels. A
handbrake must be fitted, in working order.
Two brake lights must be fitted and working to be able to race on non
contact tracks. These lights must be disconnected when racing on contact
tracks. (See Rule 22 for Brake
Light Specifications). Mini 1000
front disc brakes are permitted, you may skim the callipers to allow 10”
wheels. The use of standard Mini
1000 spacered rear drums are allowed provided they are fitted to both sides.
Brake servos may be fitted as standard or remote, but it is not permitted
to fit a servo which requires changes to the pedal box etc.
12.
SEATS
Fibre
glass seats and other special seats are recommended, and must be securely
fitted. The back of the seat must
be adequately supported and provide a strong head restraint otherwise this
restraint must be an integral part of the roll cage.
Drivers seats may be moved up to 3" from original position towards
the middle of the car. A
75mm x 6mm flat plate shaped to the seat at shoulder height and welded to the
roll cage must be fitted as support for the seat.
13.
NUMBERS
Numbers
must be displayed on both side of the car and also on a roof fin plate.
Regulation side numbers must be 12" high in 2" strokes.
Regulation fin numbers must be 9" high on 1½" strokes. All numbers must
be of professional appearance, painted black on a minimum white background of
2".
14.
SAFETY
BELTS / EQUIPMENT
Only
belts comprising separate shoulder, lap and sub-straps will be permitted.
The sub-strap must be used at all times and all belts must connect to the
quick release buckle. In the case
of NASCAR lever latch buckles, it is advisable to fit a secondary means of
detent to prevent overall sleeves accidentally unhooking buckle during racing.
A small section of tubegrip elasticated bandage slid over the locked
buckle serves this purpose. Special
attention must be paid to the condition of seat belts and fixings once fitted. A quick release cloth window net must be fitted to the
drivers door window aperture and should be flexible and easily removable
separate to the movement of the door. Neck
braces and fire retardant gloves are compulsory, fire retardant balaclavas are
recommended. Seat belts must be
supported at shoulder height behind the seat, this can be incorporated into the
seat support. It
is vital with a small child that where the drivers shoulders are below the top
of the seat, the seat belts pass through the seat and are supported just below
the shoulders. Full information on the correct fitment of seat belts is
available from your promoter.

SIGN
WRITING
16.
The driver's name must appear plainly on
both sides of the car. Only other
writing confined to sponsors or mechanics names.
Childish drawings are not permitted. The
drivers age must be painted on the side of the car above the number.
17.
ROOF
COLOURS
When
notified of their grading, drivers will paint the roof of their car in their
appropriate colour, White, Yellow, Blue or Red, down to the tops of their doors.
Silver stripes denotes top points scorer. Each promotion's Top Points Scorer must start at the back of
the grid. Only the correct roof
grade and racing numbers may be painted on the roof.
NO SIGNWRITING. Drivers name
must be painted on a sun visor bolted or welded to the top of the windscreen
aperture.
18.
CLOTHING
Drivers
must wear bright coloured racing overall type clothing of flame retardant Proban
or higher specification material and this must be maintained in a clean and tidy
condition when in view of the public.
N.B.
If wet weather clothing is used, this must be worn IN ADDITION TO and
NOT INSTEAD OF the regulation flame retardant overall type clothing
described above.
19.
HELMETS
Protective
goggles or visors must be worn. Helmets
must be of a minimum standard as directed by British Oval Racing Safety
Executive (B.O.R.S.E). These are
BS6658/85 Type A, BS6658/85 Type A/FR, Snell
SA 90, Snell SA 95, Snell
SA2000, SFI Foundation 31.1, or SFI Foundation 31.2. The European E22 standard will not be accepted.
20.
FIRE
EXTINGUISHERS
Must
be at least 1kg (2lb) dry powder or gas and be of the dial type, to be fitted
within easy reach of the driver. It
should be maintained in good working order at all times, securely fitted but not
taped or tied in.
21.
EXHAUSTS
Exhausts
systems must use standard bore exhaust pipe to the front of the rear sub frame
and standard type 1 or 2 box silencing. The
system can terminate anywhere after the front of the rear subframe provided
silencers are fitted. The
lagging of exhaust systems with asbestos is not permitted.
22.
DRIVER'S
AGE
The
minimum age for boys and girls is 11 years old and all drivers will end on their
16th birthday.
However,
a driver aged from 11-12 may only race under the watchful eye of their
promotion, with restricted bookings, until such time as the driver is confident
enough to compete fully.
The
driver's age must be painted on the passenger side of the car.
A copy of the child's birth certificate must accompany their application
for a licence.
23.
GENERAL
RULES OF RACING
Each
driver is only permitted one car per meeting, and each car is only permitted one
driver per meeting.
A responsible
adult must be present at a race meeting with a Mini Stox driver.
Contact
Racing :
Drivers
may only use enough force to push a car off its line, or spin a car towards the
infield. Deliberate or forceful fencing is not allowed.
Side swiping is not allowed.
New
drivers may paint the boot lid with a black or white cross.
This will mean that other drivers may not make contact with them, and
that they will not be allowed to make contact with other competitors.
The Steward of the Meeting will be empowered to ask a driver to remove
the cross once he feels that a reasonable level of confidence has been achieved.
Some
promotions may run non-contact racing. Check
with any away promotion before travelling.

QUICK
REFERENCE CHART
1.
Engine Identification. The 99H, ID number is the correct block to use.
The modern "A" Plus block is also allowed.
2.
The original bore size is 64.59mm. The
original stroke size is 76.2mm. The
original swept volume is 998cc.
3.
Carb: Only the two bolt fixing one and a half inch carb can be used,
needle and jets are free, no reprofiling allowed, no quick lift chamfers, no
reducers apart from the o.r.c. restrictor plate correctly fitted.
4.
Pistons: Any standard 998cc replacement piston may be used 3 ring or 4
ring types are permitted; pistons must be unmodified with all rings in place.
5.
Cylinder Head: All 850 & 998 heads are allowed provided they are
unmodified and they use the specified valve size, part numbers permitted are
2a628-2a629-12a1456-cam480. DO NOT
USE, 12g202/206/295 or 12G940 or 12A185 or AFG163.
6.
Camshaft: Free providing it fits without requiring any engine
modification i.e: machining of the block or head, pistons etc.
7.
Crankshaft: Any 998 crank including the "A" Plus are allowed
stroke is 76.2mm.
8.
Balancing: Only the standard factory balancing is permitted. Scrutineers will have the discretion to pass any suspect item
to the ORC Technical Committee for a final decision.
9.
Rocker Gear: All factory types will be accepted with A ratio of 1.25 to
1.
10.
Oil Pumps: All three types of oil pump drive to suit the cam are
permitted.
11.
Lock Tabs: Not required.
12.
Air Filters: Free, no reducers allowed to be fitted between the carb and
air cleaner.
13.
Brake servos may be fitted as standard or remote.
14.
Tyres and wheels may be non-symmetrical on front, i.e. 10 or 12" on
either side. Only 10" wheels may be used on rear.
15.
Tyres must not be regrooved.
16.
The standard Mini steering column may be modified or repositioned to suit
the driver, quick release steering wheel are permitted.
17.
The restrictor plate must be fitted between the sandwich plate and inlet
manifold, the plate must not be altered in any way.
